The other day I got a new pick up truck and I needed to move a lot things around with it. I simply have to admit that the trunk is just like a dumpster , you will be able to see all kinds of trash like stuff in it, sometimes I believe I am just a hoarder! Of course I had the confidence that I would do a nice job before I went on packing the stuff, but the reality just taught me a lesson. When the trunk is full I just stared at the mess I created, said to myself, I just did that? OK, I actually did that. I said to myself that there was no way I could go ahead like this, What would happen to me if I did drive like this? either the stockpile fell apart on the road, may or may not hit someone else or cause accidents, or just like you would’ve guessed it, I would be spotted and stopped by patrol officers and probably got ticket and points.

Let’s see what I could do now, I either could repack everything and tie them down or just hold the whole mess together with something, to sum it up, I only need to find something to hold all stuff together and I would be good to go! Was that simple? Do I have to buy something like 4600lbs working load limit binder chain or 3333lbs ratchet straps ? Not very likely.

The tie down is a really big product category, there are so many different kind of tie downs, but I only search for stuff for pick up truck, first I came across 1” ratchet straps, 6 or 9 feet, but with 2000 or 3000lb strength they were overkill in a sense, even they were not too expensive, cam buckle tie downs were not better in this sense, what I found was too heavy duty yet not good enough for my purpose, what a piece of 1” ratchet strap could do with the huge pile such as the stuff on my truck? Besides, 1” ratchet straps won’t be able to hold a lot small pieces together at all. Then I ran into this gem: cargo net for pick ups, the size is 48”x60” which is ideal for my truck, just put the cargo net on top the pile then tie it down, you’re all set. With cargo nets come bungee cords , the bungee cords are just perfect for tying down cargo net, in fact the cargo net is made of interconnected bungee cords! To say the least, both cargo net and bungee cord are commercial tie downs compare to industrial tie downs, which means they are light duty and small in size, and they are mostly being used to hold small stuff. And these nets and cords are perfect cargo control stuff for cars, small trucks and small vans, you will be able get good deals all over the place. Now let’s talk about something else, don’t the forget the cargo bars which are made for pick up truck, people use these bars to divide trunk, prevent objects in the trunk from moving, the cargo bar is somewhat universal pick up tie down device.
